Character Modeling and Sculpting
Use classical techniques to create bipedal production modelsThis course teaches students to build balanced bipedal characters, merging the traditional art of sculpting with digital modeling techniques. Autodesk Maya, in conjunction with Pixologic’s ZBrush, is used to create appealing and functional characters in 3D. Students will focus on the technical processes needed to create detailed production models. Lectures and demonstrations cover the use of anatomy as it pertains to modeling bipeds, clothing, and accessories, as well as the technical needs for creating high quality deformable characters for animation. Over the term students will complete a fully modeled and sculpted character with animation-ready topology for critique.
