Taking a concept from paper to tangible, physical reality as a sculpt is a powerful artistic skill—one that is vital for the entertainment industry. Sculptors have been employed in Hollywood for decades, creating everything from creatures and make-up effects, to props and sets.
Explore the fundamentals of traditional sculpting. Students will spend the week creating an 18-inch clay maquette, learning the basic principles of anatomy, gesture, form, and design, while also developing essential skills and techniques for creating three-dimensional interpretations of two-dimensional designs.
In addition to in-class instruction, the average day at Gnomon’s Digital Arts Summer Camp also includes a catered lunch and a guest speaker presentation. Students will have the opportunity to hear from a respected artist working in the entertainment industry for a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to create art for movies, TV, and games.
When the course is completed, students will be able to take home their finished maquette.
Gnomon's high school classes were developed with the belief that everyone has a creative side. Our small class sizes allow instructors to personalize guidance based on previous experience and artistic goals. Regardless of your ability, we invite Digital Art Summer Camp students to explore their potential at Gnomon.
