Digital Painting

Whether it’s used to design character concepts, believable matte paintings, or immersive game environments, digital painting is a corner stone of computer graphics for the entertainment industry.

Explore the foundations of digital painting and concept design. Students will “trade in” their brushes and wooden palettes for drawing tablets and styluses as they learn how to utilize Adobe Photoshop to digitally paint and illustrate. Sessions will cover the principles of perspective, color, design, anatomy, architecture, and more, while introducing students to essential production tools such as key frame illustrations and color keys.

In addition to in-class instruction, the average day at Gnomon’s Digital Arts Summer Camp also includes a catered lunch and a guest speaker presentation. Students will have the opportunity to hear from a respected artist working in the entertainment industry for a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to create art for movies, TV, and games.

When the course is completed, students will have created a portfolio-ready digital environment painting.

Gnomon's Digital Arts Summer Camp was developed with the belief that everyone has a creative side. Our small class sizes allow instructors to personalize guidance based on previous experience and artistic goals. Regardless of your ability, we invite Digital Art Summer Camp students to explore their potential at Gnomon.
