Digital Painting

Digital painting is a method of creating art in a computer, using a drawing tablet and stylus instead of a brush and wooden palette. The skills of drawing and painting remain the foundation of all visual effects pipelines.

This class introduces students to digital painting and design as it pertains to the entertainment industry. Students learn the fundamentals of using Adobe Photoshop to design characters, creatures, vehicles, props, and environments for films and games. Students get a thorough overview of Photoshop's toolset and learn the fundamental principles of perspective, color, design, anatomy, architecture, research, and reference tools.

When the course is completed, students will have created a portfolio-ready digital environment using key frame illustrations, color keys, dramatic lighting, and textures.

Note to Parents: Gnomon’s Digital Arts Summer Camp may not be ideal for students who are unprepared for dedicated study in a college environment. If you or your child have questions on the most appropriate path forward, please contact admissions@gnomon.edu for advisement.
