Character Rigging Fundamentals
Learn the foundations of character rigging in Autodesk MayaThis course builds on the principles learned in Introduction to 3D with Maya, and through lectures, in-class practice, and out of class assignments, expands student learning in developing character animation rigs inside of Autodesk’s Maya. Emphasis is placed on understanding how to create joints, attributes, constraints, basic skinning, inverse and forward kinematics controls, and ik spline, while building a basic biped rig. Classes include a mixture of rigging demonstrations and discussions of the role of a rigger in production, as well as setup critiques and industry tips. Students will explore various styles of rigging through weekly assignments and work towards creating a biped rig in Maya.
